My name is Kimberly Seida. I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at McGill University in Montréal. I moved to Montréal from Kelowna, BC four years ago to start my PhD. My main research areas are health, gender, and sexuality.  I completed my BA in Sociology at UBC Okanagan in Kelowna.

With my current research I am trying to understand how non-heterosexual (or, sexual minority) women experience health, healthcare, and overall wellness. I am interested in doctor-patient interactions, social/community networks, as well as women's perceptions of health risks, and what they do to maintain/protect their health (either mentally or physically).  I have been motivated to do this research after seeing how little information is available (both in academia and in the 'outside world') on this important topic,  and also having spoken to many friends and acquaintances about some of their health and healthcare-related experiences.

Outside of school I like to hang out with friends and family. I am a fan of typical things like picnic-ing on Mt Royal, taking walks, going to the movies, and eating out. I love to travel and try to do it as much as I can. I also like to paint and sing jazz in my spare time.

If you have any questions about my research and/or other related opportunities please free to email me.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look over this project! And please pass on the website to others who you think may be interested!
